Relações verticais e horizontais

Como um canadense francês – de Montreal – palhaço terapêutico e empreendedor social, descobrindo cada vez mais o Brasil, como eu escolhi viver no Rio, é claro, muitas comparações inevitavelmente vem à minha mente. Uma compatriota, a pesquisadora Louise Plouffe, do Centro Internacional da Longevidade, no Rio, confirmou para mim uma observação de quanto um monte de políticas públicas no Brasil são criadas numa abordagem vertical, de cima para baixo. Os peritos ou / e as pessoas no poder conhecem melhor o que é bom para as pessoas que estão / devem servir. Esta afirmação nem sempre é falsa. Mas no Canadá há mais uma história de consultas à população sobre quais são as necessidades, desafios sociais, e soluções que podem ser criadas e discutidas de forma mais horizontal, onde ambas as partes podem compartilhar e aprender.

No entanto, no Brasil, o solo do empreendedorismo social é muito dinâmico e fascinante, trazendo soluções altamente criativas. Por exemplo, a integração das artes como uma forma de humanizar ou trazer alguns elementos mais horizontais para várias relações “verticais” acontece há anos e comprovadamente ajuda mudanças sociais profundas.

Em um relacionamento acadêmico ou médico, uma vertical de cima para baixo relacionamento é inevitável. Alguém tem um conhecimento – acadêmico ou médico – uma habilidade, uma experiência, que o outro precisa. No entanto, como eu entendo a finalidade da Ética do Encontro, a humildade, a humanidade de ser tocado e transformado, também pode ser levado nesta relação, onde ambos podem se sentir no mesmo nível.

Eu tenho explorado isso através de “palhaçadas de hospital”, e, especialmente, através da criação de “La Belle Visite”, resultado de uma pesquisa de 10 anos em instituições de cuidados de longo prazo no Canadá e com palhaçadas para os idosos, especialmente os que vivem com Alzheimer e outras demências. Esta pesquisa que realizei com a ajuda de Jovia, a maior organização canadense de palhaços hospitalares, que eu fui co-fundador (www.jovia.ca).
